In spite of the best intentions of healthcare providers and public health agencies, it appears that Americans have a long way from the beginning. It is good health advice they receive. The significance of a well lifestyle in preventing chronic disease is widely understood, and most people know lifestyle changes, and selection can be critical factors affect their health and longevity. However, according to the survey, less than 5% of the population in the United States four practices in condition behaviors that constitute a healthy lifestyle.

Non-smoking
Regular physical activity (30 or more minutes per day at least five times a week)

Use five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day

Maintain a healthy weight with a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 to 25.0

The study's authors looked at responses to surveys, random digit-dialed telephone in 2000. Responses from more than 153,000 adults are included in the study.

Non-smoking healthy lifestyle was the practice followed by the largest number of respondents, with 76% of Americans classify themselves as nonsmokers. Only 40% of people said that a fit weight. Less than a quarter of adults (23%) consume adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables. Regular physical exercise is to practice and not as much likely to be observed, with only 22% of respondents said they exercised five or more times a week.

An unexpectedly base numeral of people who participate in all four health-promoting behaviors - only 3% of adult Americans who meet the four principles of a healthy lifestyle is described in this study. This study confirms that acquiescence with the recommendations of public health is very low for U.S. adults.
